CO2 Laser Resurfacing to Illuminate Your Look

Laser resurfacing improves and removes fine lines, wrinkles, scars, brown spots, and more. It is a revolutionary treatment using a laser to resurface the skin and peel away the appearance of skin imperfections. It targets the water in each cell to effectively vaporize the skin cell. Over a broad area, this allows a physician to remove the unwanted wrinkles and blemishes and tighten skin throughout the entire face, including the eyes, neck, and decollete. Fractional CO2 Laser Resurfacing uses intense light pulses to quickly remove thin layers of skin. We have different levels of CO2 Laser Resurfacing, from Nano to Full Depth. Because of the strength of the laser, it can only be used for Fitzpatrick Skin Types 1-3 in most cases.

LASER RESURFACING

Before & After

Laser Resurfacing Procedure & Recovery

The CO2 laser resurfacing procedure at Gambhir Cosmetic Medicine is a powerful, advanced treatment designed to rejuvenate skin. During the process, a high-intensity CO2 laser is used to remove damaged skin layers and stimulate collagen production, effectively reducing the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, scars, and other skin imperfections. It’s a minimally invasive treatment, and our skilled team ensures your comfort through local anesthesia or numbing cream application.
After the CO2 laser resurfacing, you may experience some redness, swelling, and a sunburn-like sensation. These side effects are temporary and usually subside within a week. A dedicated post-treatment skincare routine is recommended, including applying specialized ointments and sun avoidance. Over the following weeks and months, your skin will continue to improve, becoming smoother, more youthful, and healthier. Most patients can return to their regular activities within 1 to 2 weeks. The CO2 laser resurfacing procedure delivers effective results and enhances your confidence and overall well-being by revitalizing your skin.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does CO2 Laser Resurfacing Hurt?

Most patients describe a 3/10 level of pain during the procedure. Topical anesthetic, injection anesthetic, and oral sedation are all available to minimize discomfort. When using oral sedation, a driver is required.
Your skin will appear red immediately after treatment. Redness will subside depending on treatment intensity. Patients are asked to stay completely out of sunlight during the appropriate healing time for their procedure.
The number of treatments varies with the depth of the laser. You can always consult with the doctor to see when they would recommend your subsequent treatment.
We offer Nitronox Oxide, aka Nitronox, for pain management for short and minimally invasive procedures. This add-on will need to be scheduled before your appointment. For more information, please visit drgambhir.com/nitronox.

Please follow these instructions after your laser treatment. If you have any questions, please call our office immediately at 610-518-7546.

  • The treatment area should be kept moist at all times. Use Aquaphor multiple times a day to keep the area moist.
  • Sun exposure should be nil until all peeling has stopped.
  • Wash the treated area with an ultra gentle cleanser twice a day starting in 24 hours.
  • If available, use of a cool mist humidifier will help keep the area moist.
  • You may take 800mg of Advil or 1000mg of Tylenol every 6-8 hours with food for pain and swelling.
  • Do not use Retin-A or glycolic acid for one month after the procedure. Be sure to check your moisturizers for Retin-A or glycolic acid in the ingredients.
  • Use ice wrapped in a cotton cloth as needed for pain and swelling.
  • We advise that you place a towel on your pillow when sleeping at night to prevent the Aquaphor from getting on your sheets.
  • Once the area heals, redness may persist for a few days. To cover this up, we recommend you use a green skin primer after moisturizing. Apply concealer and foundation on top of primer. We recommend Dermablend Smooth Indulgence Redness Concealer.

If you took a sedative:

  • No driving for 24 hours.
  • Do not drink alcohol for 24 hours.
  • Be careful walking as your gait may be unsteady.
  • Do not work around an open flame or hot device for 24 hours.
  • Do not engage in any activities that require your concentration.
  • Call Dr. Gambhir with any concerns: during office hours – 610-518-7546

*These are general guidelines. The most up to date post care instructions are provided in office by your clinical team at the time of your visit*
